[Game Awards] Thank You, Satoru Iwata

[Game Awards] Thank You, Satoru Iwata

When Satoru Iwata passed away earlier this year, the industry mourned. The players mourned. In some weird way, even his characters mourned. Last night at the Game Awards, Geoff Keighly introduced this: a tribute to the man himself, Satoru Iwata.

Satoru Iwata's work as a developer and subsequently, as the President of Nintendo, helped foster a new era for the company. He was integral in guiding the gaming giant into a new and different direction, a direction the other gaming companies hadn't focused on. He helped usher in their uniquely-Nintendo next-generation and brought gaming to entire generations of people who may have never had the opportunity to play.

There is no denying the impact Satoru Iwata had upon the industry, the players and of course, Nintendo. Thank you for everything, Iwata-san. You are missed.
